10 Q's Under the Floodlights Interview- with Marco D'Argenio
As strange as it is for the FIFA World Cup to be hosted at this time of the year, football remains a hot topic for its fans and followers. When watching the tournament on streaming platforms etc., one gets to witness just how the game continues to evolve with all the technological advances and innovation that enhance the players and supporters' experience.
Football players all over the world are constantly seeking opportunities to play or coach in different countries. With the sport being global, the demand for recruiting the right talent can only continue to increase at an rapid rate.
With tech rapidly changing the various industries, traditional sports has been no different at all. In today's article of "10 Q's Under the Spotlight," we chat to Marco De'Argenio- Founder of Footballmarket.org
Q1: Interviewer: Would you please introduce yourself and tell us what you do and where you live?
Marco: My name is Marco D'Argenio, I am a former professional footballer. In my career I have played in Italy, Switzerland and Bulgaria and I currently live in the oldest city in Europe, Plovdiv
Q2: Interviewer: When did your love for the game of football begin?
Marco: My love for football started when I was a child, in the early 90s, watching Maradona with Napoli and Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard with Milan.
Q3: Interviewer: Did you play football as a child, or teenager, or as a pro?
Marco: Yes, I played for 15 years at a semi-professional level between Italy, Switzerland and Bulgaria. In Bulgaria I played in the oldest team -Botev Plovdiv, and that was the team where the Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov started playing football.
Q4: Interviewer: What is your best memory of playing/watching football?
Marco: My greatest memory was the debut in Serie A in Bulgaria in the 2009/10 season against Litex Lovech. And as a fan, watching Italy's victory at the 2006 World Cup is my best memory.
Q5: Interviewer: Did you ever want to be a football agent at some point?
Marco: No, not really. I don't rule it out, but I see myself more as a football coach.
Q6: Interviewer: What gave you inspiration to create a tech platform for football?
Marco: I created a website to facilitate contacts between teams and players or coaches, having been a player I know how difficult it is to find a team every year if you don't have an agent.
Q7: Interviewer: Can you tell us, what is Footballmarket.org and what football services does it provide?
Marco: Footballmarket is a job portal exclusively dedicated to football. We offer free service for Teams or agents who are posting free ads to search for football players, coaches or any position involved in football.
Q8: Interviewer: What is the short-term vision for your company?
Marco: I love working and improving day after day hoping that the platform can grow and help more and more professionals and amateurs find work in the world of football
Q9: Interviewer: What is the long-term vision for your company?
Marco: To be honest, in my philosophy of life I don't like making long-term plans.
